Windows 10 Support

Microsoft to end Windows 10 support.

Windows 10 upgrade on ATM

Are you planning how will this affect your ATM network?

What is happening?

Microsoft has announced they are ending their support of Windows 10. As many ATMs run on this operating system, operators need to understand what this means for them, their network of devices and long-term plan. Will any, some or all need upgrading to Windows 11 (or other system )  – what are your options?

What is the timeframe?

The need to take action will vary depending on many factors, from exactly which licence is on each device, to the specific processor types installed, and when those various licence type support will end. Devices running on a Windows 10 (2016 LTSB) licence end on Oct 2026, Windows 10 (2019 LTBS) on January 2029 and Windows 10 (2021 LTBS) on January 2032.

How can Cennox help?

Cennox supports customers to understand the impact these changes could have on them. We do this by undertaking comprehensive reviews of their networks, building their strategies around the long-term needs of their entire ATM fleet, and supporting them in any upgrades, replacements or onward monitoring.

Our recommended steps

Education Phase

Key to understanding what support you may need involves educating customers around all options. We help them to understand what these changes mean, what options are available to them, and what specific actions are advised for each specific ATM operator.

Evaluation Phase

Cennox undertakes the evaluation phase, reviewing all hardware and software across our customer’s entire network to assess compatibilities and which devices may need attention.

Strategic Planning

We build strategic roadmaps with customers for all devices across their networks. This enables them to identify what they need to be aware of, when they need to action their plans, and how to execute those changes.

Upgrade or Replace?

We can support individual device upgrades or manage their replacement should there be any incompatibilities with latest software configurations.  As many operators run older legacy hardware, an upgrade may not be possible.

Mark Future Upgrades

Not all devices will need action at this point, but there are future dates highlighted that will require action in the coming years. It is important ATM operators plan for these to avoid any costly surprises. Cennox can support customers to build their future strategies, plan hardware budgets and device rotation in the most efficient way possible.
